Born June 22, 1952 in Regina Sask. Educated in primary schools in Victoria B.C. and Vancouver B.C. After graduation from Handsworth Secondary School in North Vancouver, she attended the University of BC, graduating in home economics (BScHE) in 1973. During school and university she worked for various employers including the Woodwards department store and BC Hydro.
In 1973 she married Steven Silveira, a forestry engineer whom she met at university. They live in 100 mile house where Steven is vice president of Ainsworth lumber. Besides keeping house and being a devoted mother, Janice works with Tupperware sales and a Fabric store.
